چکیده

An efficient mixed-mode Gaussian frequency-shift keying (GFSK) demodulator with a frequency offset cancellation circuit is presented. The structure is suitable for a low-IF Bluetooth receiver and can also be applied to other receivers involving continuous phase shift keying (CPSK) signals. The demodulator implementation is robust to tolerate process variations without requiring calibration. It can also track and cancel the time-varying local oscillator frequency offset between transmitter and receiver during the entire reception period. The chip was fabricated in CMOS 0.35m digital process; it consumes 3 mA from a 3-V power supply and occupies 0.7 mm of silicon area. A 16.2-dB input signal-to-noise ratio is obtained to achieve 0.1% bit-error rate as specified in Bluetooth specs. The co-channel interference rejection ratio is about 11 dB. Theoretical and experimental results are in good agreement.

Bluetooth demodulation algorithms and their performance

In our Software Defined Radio SDR project we aim at combining two different types of standards, Bluetooth and HiperLAN/2 on one common hardware platform. Goal of our project is to generate knowledge about designing the front end of an SDR system (from the antenna signal to the channel bit stream) where especially an approach from both analog and digital perspective is essential. Bluetooth uses ...

Bluetooth Low Energy Controller Low IF GFSK Modem

This paper presents the implementation of Bluetooth Low Energy Controller (BTLE), Low Intermediate Frequency (IF), Gaussian Frequency Shift Keying (GFSK) Modulation and Demodulation technique. The GFSK modulation uses a bandwidth bit period product BT=0.5. The modulation index shall be configurable between 0.45 and 0.55. A binary one shall be represented by a positive frequency deviation, and a...

Demodulators for a Zero-IF Bluetooth Receiver

This brief presents low-complexity detectors for a zero-IF Bluetooth receiver based on a simple phase-domain analog-to-digital converter. Measurements and simulations prove that the detectors’ sensitivity lies close to an ideal coherent Gaussian frequency-shift keying (GFSK) detector.

Decision feedback equalization for Bluetooth systems

Gaussian Frequency Shift Keying modulation has been chosen as the modulation technique for the physical layer of Bluetooth. Bluetooth is a standard for low cost and low power wireless communications between various mobile devices. The optimal demodulation of a GFSK signal involves an extremely complex Viterbi decoder. Therefore designers have opted for the noncoherent detection of GFSK which us...

A New GFSK Demodulation Technique using EKF in Bluetooth Receivers

Bluetooth is a wireless technology that is widely used in consumer electronics and deployed in many industries due to its ease of use and low cost. Gaussian frequency shift keying (GFSK) is the modulation scheme used in Bluetooth receivers to achieve a basic data rate of 1 Mbps. In this article, a new noncoherent demodulation technique based on the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) is presented to d...
